This is a high quality small Limited Edition (number 2 of 12) Bronze of Two Old Ladies sat on a Park Bench. It has been produced using the lost wax method of modelling and casting and is therefore a solid piece of bronze, which has been finished with a deep rich black patina. It is a wonderful observation of the two characters with one completely absorbed in her book whilst the other surreptitiously looks over to see what is being read.
in addition to the edition number (2/12) it is also signed in the casting 'EVE' and dated '76' for 1976. This is where the mystery begins as on the underside it also has the Foundry Mark 'ARTCAST' who are an Art Foundry in Ontario, Canada.
We have been in contact with Artcast who have confirmed it is a piece produced at their foundry, however, their records for the 1970s have been destroyed so they were unable to assist with identifying 'EVE'. Artcast did add that the majority of their artist clients were based in Ontario, Quebec and the Eastern Provinces of Canada, as well as North East and Upper Mid-West USA.
What we can says for certain is the illusive EVE has produced a superb and rare little Bronze which would display beautifully in any setting.
