This very imposing monolithic abstract female figure was created by the Wrexham based Polish artist Jan Boenisch. It is hand signed M.J.B on the base and still retains an original exhibition label for the Mall Galleries in London. This records the piece was part of the '4A' exhibition in 1980 and was titled 'Figure'. It also recorded the Artist's name and Wrexham address.
The Sculpture has been carved from two pieces of Elm and does have some drying cracks however we have undertaken a sympathetic restoration to present it at its best.
This is a rare opportunity to acquire a wonderful sculpture by this Artist which has a real presence.

There are a number of industrial paintings by Jan Boenisch in the gallery and museum in his adopted town Wrexham. It would appear his output was mainly in oil painting; however Wrexham Gallery & Museum were trying to locate a mother and child statue by Jan which was very much in the style of the one we are offering for sale.
